Propylene Glycol based Antifreeze such as non-toxic Frigid Gard -50 will thicken and form ice crystals as the temperature drops below 15 degrees. Even though ice crystals form, the fluid will not expand and cause damage until the temperature falls below -50 degrees. It is incorrect to assume the fluid must stay a liquid in order to protect your tanks, pumps and pipes.
